2017 Election

Ballot: Ohio Issue 1 (Marsey's Law) [NO]
-This issue is tricky. At face value it looks like a great law for "victims" of crimes. However this bill will infuse unnecessary, unneeded, and possibly intrusive/obstructionist language and action into an already complex and confusing justice system.
1). The reason I most dislike this issue, is that, if implemented, would deny the right of discovery for the accused to attain all evidence, including that from the named victim, to use for their defense. This effectively makes the accused a victim of hearsay. Not everyone who is accused by a victim is guilty of the "crime". With this language, more often than not, the falsely accused will be held liable.
2). For the rest of the ballot language, much of it features so-called improvements to "problems" in the Ohio Revised Code. The state of Ohio has laws and codes that, if correctly implemented, prevent much of these. The language of the issue itself is based off a ballot from another state that doesn't have the same protections in place.
Ohio Issue 2 [NO]
- In all of my research thus far I have not found enough credible reasons to support this issue known as the "Drug Price Relief Act". To me it does look sort of deceptive in it's language. There are several reasons why I don't support it.
1). The major funder of the Yes side (99.99%) is the CEO of an HIV Foundation out of California that makes 80% of it's revenue from the sale of prescription drugs.
2). This almost same exact bill was voted on in in California one of the most liberal states in the Union, and it was voted down 53% - 47% in 2016.
3). Several medical groups, scientific organizations, business organizations, veterans groups, and unions are against this bill, and supporting the No side, including the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) the nurses union my mother was in, and who was Vice President of the local chapter. If several scientific groups are against it, I in good conscience, as a supporter of science, am dissuaded to support it either.
4). It states that is will be beneficial to veterans, and yet veterans groups like the Ohio American Legion, the Order of the Purple Heart, as well as veterans associations of different wars are against, I would believe they would know what they are talking about, no matter how much you think they are getting paid. If they are just puppets then they deserve to rest in condemnation no matter who they are.
5). There is no real instruction for implementation, and it could take years before it could be mostly implemented even the balloting language does state it would happen retroactively. Even then there would still be red tape and possible conflicts of State law.

2016 Election

President: Hillary Clinton
- Hillary has been a champion of the common people for decades, from her work with children, to her declaration that "Women's rights are human rights, and human rights are women's rights", she has fought for civil and social action, and equality. Her experience as an activist, lawyer, First Lady of Arkansas, First Lady of the United States, U.S. Senator from New York, Secretary of State, and now a major party Presidential nominee in her second try makes her the most qualified candidate since Franklin Roosevelt. I believe Hillary will work for progressive polices, and continue steer our country forward. #ImWithHer

U.S. Senate - Ohio: Ted Strickland
- Having worked for Ted for 10 or so years I have gotten to understand the man from Duck Run. As a Congressman from the Ohio 6th District, and the 68th Governor of Ohio, he has been working for Ohio families for 40 years. As an ordained United Methodist Minister Ted is a faithfully grounded person with a background in psychology. In Ted's last election, he narrowly lost his reelection bid for the Governorship to failed conservative Presidential candidate, Wall Street insider and current Ohio Governor John Kasich. Sen. Rob Portman has been a surrogate of failed conservative politics, and politians. His recent failure to act on commonsense gun control measures is a prime example. It is clear Senator Portman works for special interests like the NRA, and needs to be replaced. Ted Strickland is that person!

Ohio 7th Congressional District: Roy Rich
- I know little about Mr. Rich except for what I have read about him. However a simple comparison his views paired with Congressman Bob Gibbs' establishes a clear decision. You can learn about him by clicking here.
